Music by The Piano Brothers

Robert Charles Wentworth of Syracuse, NY, died on January 14th, 2018. He had just celebrated his 68th birthday on December 30th. His friends called him “Bob”, but his children called him “Bobbert” because it annoyed him. He is survived by his three children, Michael (Cristen), Briana (Chris), Brendan (Jenna) and three grandchildren, Fynn, Caelon, and Eleanor; two brothers, Charles and William; two sisters, Jean and Joan; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and many cousins. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Mary Theresa Byrne and Richard Charles Wentworth, his brother, James Wentworth, his grandson, Madoc LaRoche, and his best friend, Chester "Chet" Ripka.  Bob was a fierce friend, loving father and grandfather, self-proclaimed comedian, and in his younger years a talented guitar player and singer. During his healthiest years he found joy in being outdoors. He loved spending time in his hunting cabin with friends, and being on his boat with a fishing pole and a cooler. He was a strong-willed man who lived his own way.  As time got the best of him, he was unable to move around much, and he found a lot of comfort and entertainment in his two cats, Shadow and Porky. Those who lost touch with him over the last few years may be surprised by this statement. His children certainly were. Bob is someone who, if you met him, you wouldn’t forget. Sometimes you weren’t sure if you wanted to punch him or grab a beer with him.  Sometimes it could be both.  But you liked him.  He was charismatic and could tell a story like no one else. Even if you heard the story a thousand times, you let him go on because he told it so well. Now, he will live on in the countless “Bob” stories that he’s left us with. Calling hours for Bob on Saturday, January 20th from 11am-1pm, with a services to follow at Mathewson-Forani Funeral Home, 206 Kinne St., East Syracuse.  At a later date, his interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery to rest amongst family and friends already passed. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in his name to Pets for the Elderly at http://petsfortheelderly.org.
