F. Carl Barth Obituary

F. (Ferdinand) Carl Barth, Jr.

New Hartford, Age 94

Carl peacefully passed away, with his daughter by his side, on April 14, 2024.

Carl was born in Utica, NY on August 30, 1929, son of F. Carl Barth, Sr. and Agnes Kelly.

Predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Sally Ann Bohling Barth and sister, Agnes Maidie Barth Colglazier. Survived by his daughter, Pamela, son-in-law Steven, and his grandchildren Andrew (Jessica), Daniel and Stefania. He very much loved and was proud of each grandchild... Andy who made him wear a "costume" (Poppa's sense of humor - AKA tuxedo) to his wedding!!, Dan, his

"technology support guy" who kept him safe on the internet and Stefania his "Apple Watch gal" who patiently taught him how to use his Apple Watch.

Carl was blessed to have very special people in his life who thought the world of him; his sister-in-law and long-time friends and neighbors who kept him on his toes, (squirt-gun wars) and genuinely looked after him to try and keep him "behaving" and out of "trouble"!! Special thanks to Connie who supplied him with daily meals and treats to help him keep his weight up!

Carl was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He honorably served his country from 1951-1953 stationed in the Korean Theater of Operations. He was a Lifetime Member of the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars - and past Commander), Lifetime Member of the American Legion (and past Commander), Lifetime Member of the Elks Club Lodge #33, AMVETS #384, and the 40 & 8 Voiture 92.

He spent the early years of his life working at his father's bakery, The Red Cherry Pie Shop on Charlotte St. in Utica, NY. He graduated from UFA and MVCC also in Utica, NY. He then worked for General Electric for 34 years until 1989 when he retired. He enjoyed traveling and participating in various bowling and golf leagues.

In retirement, he and Sally spent winters in Bonita Springs, Florida where he volunteered as a marshal for the PGA tournament and "Clean up Bonita".

Many thanks for the support and guidance of the devoted, caring staff at the Crouse Community Center in Morrisville.

In accordance with his wishes there will be no public viewing. A private family celebration of his life will be at the convenience of his family. Donations may be made to your local Veterans Association, Crouse Community Center in Morrisville or in the spirit of "CARL" raise your mug and enjoy a Utica Club BEER in his memory! May his presence always be happily remembered!!
