Thomas Moore Obituary

Thomas Edward Moore, 65, previously of Morristown, NY, passed away suddenly on April 5, 2024, at his residence in Rome, NY. He went home to God and was greeted by his loving mother Shirley, his father Michael, and his brother Mike, as well as his loving grandparents Thomas and Marie Callahan and Edward and Hazel Moore.

Tom was born in Ogdensburg to Michael and Shirley (Callahan) Moore on his dad’s birthday, August 1, 1958. He graduated from Morristown Central School in 1976.

Tom honorably served four years in the army, splitting most of his time between Germany and Ft. Riley, Kansas.

Tommy was known for his elegant penmanship. He was a talented cartoonist and a wonderful cook. He was a handyman with cable and anything electric. He expressed deep empathy for others, treating everyone with dignity and respect. Through the years, he was an incredible father to his dogs and cats.

Tom is survived by his siblings, Colleen (Fred) Pidgeon, Cathleen (John) Bell, Maureen Mazer, Kevin (Melissa Morgan) Moore, Timothy (Linda) Moore, and Karen (Michael) Coventry, his sister-in-law, Ann Fenlong, his aunts, Patricia Durant and Sister, Cathleen Moore, SSJ, and his uncle, Daniel Moore. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Tommy had a brilliant mind and a most compassionate, gentle, and loving soul, deepened by a strong faith which helped him through his struggles, especially after a tragic car accident in his twenties. He gave encouragement to all who knew and loved him. He was known for his fantastic sense of humor which brought smiles and laughter to all.

Services will be held at a later date.
