Chester Joseph Wisniewski, Sr, 94 of East Syracuse passed away at Loretto Health and Rehabilitation Center on August 14th, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Chester was born in Syracuse, NY and was a life resident of East Syracuse. He was employed by Penn Central Railroad as an engineer for over 35 years. He was a lifetime parishioner of St. Matthew’s parish where he served as an usher. Chester was a WWII veteran who served in Europe and North Africa and was a medal recipient. Chester was an avid outdoorsman and overall sports enthusiast who excelled in golf, bowling, and baseball. He was a lifetime member of Arrowhead Golf Course who had 3 career hole in ones. He loved Syracuse sports and the Boston Red Sox. Chester was also a self-taught gifted musician who was proficient in several instruments. He loved to entertain at every gathering. Chester was a loving, dedicated father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was predeceased by his wife, Sharon (Eischen) of 56 years, his parents Alex and Alice, brothers Edward, John, Alex and Gene and sisters Helen Flint and Celia DeNero. He is survived by his four sons; Chester Jr. (Mary), Martin (Laureen), Steven (Sue) and Eric (Brenda). Ten grandchildren; Christina Heacox (Peter), Martin Jr. (Mallory), Joy Centra (Joe), Matthew, Julie, Ryan, Christian, Adam, Hailee and Zach and also 3 great- granddaughters; Scarlet, Sadie and Eva. Chester is also survived by his loving companion, Marge Mozo. The family would especially like to thank the staff on the fourth floor of the Fahey building at Loretto for their continued care and compassion. A funeral mass in celebration of Chester’s life will be held at 9 AM on Saturday, August 18th at St. Matthew’s Church in East Syracuse. Calling hours will be held 4 to 7 PM on Friday at Mathewson-Forani Funeral Home, 206 Kinne St., East Syracuse. In Lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the St. Matthew’s Food Pantry.
