Doreen L. Allen, 90, passed away September 23rd at Towne Center, Fayetteville, NY. Born in California, she met her husband, William M. Allen, when he was stationed there during WWII. After their marriage they moved back to his home in Syracuse. She was an avid sewer and owner of the Fabric Barn in Fayetteville. Doreen belonged to the Towpath Quilt Guild and the Fayetteville Garden Club and was an enthusiastic bridge player. She was also a member of Plymouth Congregational Church, Cazenovia United Methodist Church and Fayetteville United Methodist Church. She lived for over 50 years at Delphi Falls, where she enjoyed gardening and hosting parties and picnics for her church, garden club, family and friends. To her delight, Delphi Falls was recently opened as a public park. She is survived by four children, Lindy McMahon, William Allen, Jr., Becky Rizzi and Steven Allen, five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be at Fayetteville United Methodist Church, 601 East Genessee St., Fayetteville on Saturday, October 6th at 10:00 am followed by a service celebrating Doreen’s life at 11:00 am. Donations in her honor may be made to the Rescue Mission, 155 Gifford St., Syracuse, NY 13202. Leave a condolence for the family on the Tribute Wall.
