John “the Mule” Mullane of Cicero and E. Syracuse passed away Tues 2/26 surrounded by his loving family. John was born 4/26/51 to the late Henry and Beatrice Mullane of E. Syracuse. John graduated from St John the Baptist High School, Syracuse, NY. He was employed for many years with NY Telephone, Texcom , the Post Standard and Syracuse City School District.
John enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and children but especially his grandchildren. John had an incredible sense of humor and quick wit that will be missed by everyone that knew him. In keeping with his strong Irish heritage, he frequented many local establishments especially Nibseys Pub and George O’Deas. John had a love of the NY Giants, Mets and SU sports, having season tickets for both football and basketball. He was an avid golfer playing many years in the Nibsey’ Wed. night golf league. He had a “Hole in One” at Highland Golf Course in Auburn NY.
John is survived by his loving and caring wife Betsy Painter Mullane, his children Bryan and Julie Mullane both of Liverpool, Randy (Tracy) Hadden of Buffalo and Kelly (Michael) Rainisch of Parkland FL; grandchildren, Dominic and Luciana Pascarella, Kara Mullane, Ryan (RJ) and Benjamin Hadden and Jonah and Skylar Rainisch; Brothers, Edward (Eileen) Mullane of FL, Michael Mullane of Liverpool and Marty (Roxanne) Mullane of E Syr. Also an Aunt, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Thank you to those who spent time with him and provided support over these last few years and a very special thanks to the 2nd floor N wing CNA’s and nurses at Elderwood of Liverpool for the special care they gave John.
Calling hours will be Mon 3/4 from 4-7pm at Mathewson-Forani Funeral Home, 206 Kinne St., E Syr and Funeral Mass Tues 3/5 at 11:00am in St. Matthew’s Catholic Church. Following the Mass a celebration of life and a toast to John will be held at Trappers in E Syr. Donations in John’s memory can be made to American Diabetes Assn.
