Peter J. “Pete” Rayo, 86, of East Syracuse, passed away February 25, 2018. He was born in East Syracuse and graduated from East Syracuse High School. He served in the US Marine Corps and played trumpet in one of the Corps Bands. He was employed by General Electric and then became well known in the car business having worked for various dealerships and retired from Adessa Auto Brokers in Cicero. Pete was an avid golfer. His interest started as a caddy at a young age at Onondaga Country Club. He became an accomplished golfer acquiring six holes in one which he proudly displayed on his license plate. He belonged to St. Matthew’s Church in East Syracuse. He was predeceased by his wife, Carla Van deBogart Rayo in 2003. Survived by his children, Peter (Marion) Rayo of Syracuse, Patrick Rayo of East Syracuse, Perry Rayo of Chittenango and Jon (Janel) of San Diego, CA; grandchildren, Jayson, Paige and Jared Rayo and Valencia Magistro; his siblings, Betty Butler, Ida Tagliaferri, Joseph Rayo, Mary Callisto, Frank (Chici) Rayo, Michael (Donna) Rayo and Anna Marie (James) Alexander; several nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday March 8 at 11:30am at St. Matthew’s Church. Burial will follow in the Vererans Memorial Cemetery.
