Rose Mary Abdo Lousgnitski, 93, passed peacefully with her family by her side on June 3. She was a lifelong resident of Syracuse and an active member of her community. As a young girl, she was no stranger to hard work. She graduated from Vocational High School and attended CCBI Business School to go on and join her family grocery business and then later operated a local business of her own with her late husband Joseph. Rose was not only a strong provider but also a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, always putting the comfort and needs of others before her own. Her gifts were generous in nature, and her time was spent on others. She took great pleasure in cooking and enjoyed entertaining those in her presence. Her lively spirit will be missed by many. Rose was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Lousgnitski, and her parents, Samuel and Suria Abdo. Surviving are her daughters JoAnne Sgambati (Joseph), Jean Schoff (Michael), and Jacklyn Brownell (Stephen), as well as her five grandchildren Joseph P. Sgambati III, Matthew Brownell, Andrew Brownell, Stephen Brownell, and Nicole Schoff as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass Thursday June 7 at 11 A.M. at St. Matthew’s Church, East Syracuse. Calling hours will be Wednesday, June 6, from 4-7 PM at the Mathewson-Forani Funeral Home, Inc., 206 Kinne St., East Syracuse. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Aurora at 518 James St., Suite 100, Syracuse, 13203. Leave a condolence on the tribute wall at mathewsonforani.com
