Barbara Hofmann Obituary

Barbara Ann Reap Hofmann, 80, of East Syracuse, passed on to her eternal home on Friday, April 2nd, 2021 after a three-year courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving husband, Robert, and her four surviving daughters.

Barbara was born in Syracuse, NY on February 23rd, 1941. She was pre-deceased by her twin sister Donna in 1975, niece Mary Margaret in 2018, and her oldest daughter Lauretta in 2020. She graduated from Central High School in 1959. She married Robert L. Hofmann on April 23, 1960, and together, they built a happy life with their five daughters and later, five sons-in-law, fifteen grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.

Barbara held many varied sales positions, her favorite as an international food buyer at Williams Supermarket in North Syracuse. She was an avid sports fan, game player, and host to many family gatherings. Her greatest joy was seeing everyone together for the holidays and taking trips with Bob to visit family and friends. Her deepest desire was that all would come to know her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

With great determination and faith, she faced the many challenges of life including raising a large family, becoming a guardian for her sister’s six children, and facing stage four cancer. The family wishes to thank Dr. Benny Wong and the awesome medical staff at Hematology/Oncology Associates of CNY. They also wish to thank the caring group of women at her Friday morning Bible study, friends from the Tuesday night Bible study, and many additional caring friends, neighbors, and relatives.

Her beautiful life will be cherished by all those she left behind-- her loving husband, Robert L. Hofmann, daughters Mary (Paul) Ward, Therese (Bryan) Withey, Julianne (Jon) Nappa, and Claire (Philip) Harshberger; son-in-law, Jay Koch; grandchildren Andrew, Nicholas, Katharine, Hannah, Margaret, Emily, Samuel, Flurrin, Rebekah, Jacob, John, Luke, Caleb, Noah, Ezra; and seven great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her loving niece, Susan Masters, and nephews Arthur, Robert, Charles, and Daniel McKinnon.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever. Psalm 23:6.
