Bette J. (Whelan) Asprinio

Bette Jane Whelan Asprinio, 82, passed away on June 20, 2023. She was the daughter of David and Elizabeth Whelan and spent most of her life as a resident of East Syracuse, New York. She retired as an administrative assistant at Cummins Onan in East Syracuse in 2007. Bette derived the most pleasure in her life by opening her home to friends and family for a visit, meal or even a beer, no matter what time of the day, or day of the week. She loved company and her home was always open with no invitation required. 

Bette was predeceased by Matt, her husband of 61 years in 2019. Also, brothers Jack and Dick Whelan, sisters Marilyn McCarthy and Pat O’Hearn. 

Bette is survived by her loving daughter Marilyn (John) Bill and son Tony (Lynda) Asprinio of Milford, Pennsylvania. She is also survived by grandsons John (Megan) Bill and Joe (Kate) Bill as well as her 4 great granddaughters Mia, Ella, Olivia, and Emmy Bill. Bette also leaves behind her sister in-law Bev Whelan, 20 nieces and nephews, as well as their spouses and children.

Services and burial are private. In lieu of flowers, contribution may be made to Francis House, 108 Michaels Avenue, Syracuse, NY  13208.
