Carl H. Sterling

Carl H Sterling of East Syracuse passed away on November 10, 2025 at the age of 102. He was a life resident of East Syracuse, born October 21, 1923 to Oscar F. and Marion Ruth (Hoke) Sterling.

Carl graduated from East Syracuse High School class of 1941 and Central City Business Institute. He was a WW2 Navy veteran (Pacific theater). He was employed by the Semet Solvay Division of Allied Chemical until it closed in 1970 and then worked as Clerk/Treasurer of the village of East Syracuse until he retired in 1995. He also served terms as East Syracuse village trustee and mayor and was a life member of the East Syracuse Fire Department. He was on the committee responsible for the founding of EAVES Ambulance.

Carl married June L Dixon on July 19, 1947. She predeceased him on August 18, 2004. He is survived by his daughter Gail L Sterling of East Syracuse, son Scott E Sterling (Danielle) of Virginia Beach, Virginia, nephew Douglas H Dixon (Caroline), niece Amy L Comfort, great nephews Lore Dixon (Bella), and Logan Comfort and great nieces Micaela Dixon, Aubree Dixon (Ruben Rosado) and Rachel Comfort.

Per Carl's wishes there will be no calling hours. Funeral service will be held Friday, November 14 at 11 AM at the First United Church of East Syracuse. Burial in White Chapel Memory Gardens. Contributions may be made in his name to EAVES Ambulance, 6232 Fly Rd, East Syracuse, NY 13057
