Denise Duell, a gifted musician and cherished member of her community, passed away on December 7th, 2024, at the age of 72. She was born on April 21st, 1952 in Springfield, Massachusetts, and grew up in Chicopee Falls, MA. Denise’s life was a symphony of creativity and passion, leaving behind a legacy that will resonate for generations.
Denise’s love for music began early in her childhood, playing instruments and singing with her siblings and parents. Her passion for music blossomed into a lifelong pursuit of musical expression. A master of the guitar and an array of stringed instruments, she poured her heart into her craft as a performer and songwriter. Her compositions reflected her deep connection to the world around her and her unwavering faith.
Throughout her vibrant career, Denise was an integral part of several rock bands, numerous bluegrass ensembles, and choral groups. Later in life, she and her husband Michael founded Reflection the Band, a project that became a heartfelt expression of their shared love for music and community. Beyond the stage, Denise shared her talents, providing music for church events and worship services.
Denise’s creativity extended beyond music to the visual arts. She found joy in painting and crafting, channeling her artistic spirit into pieces that delighted and inspired those around her. Her hobbies were a testament to her boundless talent and desire to find beauty in every aspect of life.
Denise was predeceased by her husband Michael Duell Sr., her parents, and one son, Toby Danial Berry. She leaves behind her loving partner Ralph Casebolt, eight children, sixteen grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She also leaves her 5 siblings and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Denise’s life and music will be held in the Spring, 2025. She has requested that any donations wished to be made in her honor should go to Mario Murillo Ministries, a cause close to Denise’s heart. (Online website for donation links)
