Dixie L. Erickson

Dixie L Erickson, 82, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2020 in Syracuse NY. Dixie was a lifelong resident of Minnesota where she raised her family and worked for more than 35 years as a school bus driver. She moved to Syracuse with her daughter Connie in 2016 to be near her daughters Janelle and Kathy. Dixie raised 5 children and was ‘mom’ to dozens of others over the years. An avid cook, baker and gardener, Dixie’s home was a warm gathering place for neighbors, friends, and family. She is fondly remembered for housing a number of college students over the years in her large home near Minneapolis.  

 Dixie spent the last year of her life at Peregrine on the Hill Memory Care, where she was cared for by many thoughtful and kind staff persons. 

Dixie is survived by daughters Janelle Fields (Jeff) Fayetteville, Kathy Eber (Richard) Syracuse, and Connie Erickson, Syracuse; 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 2 sisters, 2 brothers, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family members. 

A private ceremony to be held in Syracuse in late February. A funeral service will be held in Apple Valley, MN on May 2 at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church,Apple Valley MN. Burial at Woodbury Cemetery, Lyle, MN. Donations in honor of Dixie may be made to . Alzheimer’s Association.and Advocates.org. You may  contact family and leave condolences on the Tribute Wall
