Doris Carpenter Stanley Bower, Born May 1,1938 in Ticonderoga, NY passed away on October 20, 2025. Doris was pre-deceased by her daughter Susan Bernardine Stanley, parents Eva Carpenter-Kozma, Raymond Kozma (step-father) and David Evan Carpenter, sisters Carolyn A. Sakran, Mary Ellen Battista, brother William D. Carpenter, half-brother Raymond Kozma, and husbands Edward C. Stanley and Donald F. Bower. Doris is survived by her half-brother Donald Kozma and brother in-law John Sakran, nieces, nephews and cousins. Doris came to Syracuse in 1965 and prior to that had worked as a secretary at General Electric and secretary to the Project Manager for Walsh Construction Company during renovation of International Paper Company's mill and New York Telephone Company and last, but not least, a soda jerk at the Burleigh and Meyers Pharmacies through the High School days and at her mother's diner and custard stand in pre-High School days. Upon arrival in Syracuse, Doris worked for Precision Autos, N. Syracuse Answering Service, Thor Metal Company and on to a lengthy 38 year career with the Department of Defense at Hancock Air Force Base and U.S Customs and retired on May 31, 2013 from the Department of Homeland Security's U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Doris was a member of the Ticonderoga Chapter of The Daughters of the American Revolution. Her niece Laurie Sakran- Rhoads and her husband Andy Rhoads took Doris in and cared for Doris untill her passing. After cremation, interment will take place in Valley View Cemetery in "Dear Old Ticonderoga". convenience of the family. There will not be services in either location per Doris's request.
