Ermina E. (Reith) Martin

Ermina Martin, 97, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 29th, 2021.  Ermina was a native of Syracuse and was born on February 29th, 1924 to the late J. Frank and Emma (Kessler) Reith. 

Ermina was a graduate of Assumption Academy, and The Convent School.  She worked a lifetime for the family business of Syracuse Wire and Fence Works, Inc., started by her mother and father, who emigrated from Germany to the United States in the early 1920s.  She spent her life as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  Ermina was happiest surrounded by her family.  She was a devout Catholic, with a strong work ethic and value for education, which she has passed on to her children and grandchildren. 

Ermina was predeceased by her parents; her husband of 57 years, L. Walter Martin (May 21st, 2000); her siblings, Henry Reith, Frank Reith, and Doris Gunter. She is survived by her brother, Charles Reith; her children, Richard Martin (Kathleen) and Janis Berg (Dana); grandchildren, Rhiannon and Ryan Martin and Timothy and Christopher Beaudet; great grandchildren Hailey and Brayden Martin, and many nieces and nephews. 

A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 6th, 10:00 a.m. at St. Matthews Church, East Syracuse.  Visitation will be held prior to the funeral mass from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the church.  Contributions may be made in her name to St. Matthews Church.
