Frederick L. Joss, Sr.

Frederick Joss Sr., 76, of Syracuse, passed away on May 10, 2026. 

Fred was predeceased by his parent, Willie and Dorothy (Casler) Joss, brothers, Steven and Gary Joss, and ex-wife, Joan Joss. 

Fred is survived by his six children, Anne (Tim Towsley) Joss, Frederick Joss Jr., William (Carmella Karagosian) Joss, Deborah (Trevor) Brown, and Amanda (Scott Birchenough) Joss of Syracuse and Daniel (Sabrina) Joss of Virginia Beach; four grandchildren, Brian (Meghan Tortora), Alexis, Sofia, and Olivia Joss; and 3 great-grandchildren Kyla, Samantha, and Amiyah Joss; sisters-in-law Elizabeth (Richard) Brookins of Kirkville, Amelia Joss, Janice Miller and Mary Degan of Texas, and Josie Downs of Florida; companion Cindy Nappi of Syracuse; and family friend Mike Welch. 

Calling hours are Thursday May 21st from 5-7pm at Mathewson-Forani Funeral Home, 206 Kinne St., East Syracuse. Funeral service will be held Friday May 22nd at 11am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Friends and family are encouraged to wear flannel shirts, or classic car t-shirts.
