George Mehallow, 99, passed away peacefully in September after a brief illness. He was born in Pardee, PA to John and Mary (Perow) Mehallow, the third of ten children. He grew up and attended school in Hawk Run, PA. After high school he served in the Civilian Conservation Corps before enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1942. He was sent to North Africa and served as a clerk in Oran, Algeria and Casablanca, Morocco. After the war he graduated from Penn State University and began working in accounting in Harrisburg, PA. In 1956 he relocated to Syracuse and worked for L.B. Smith, Inc. until his retirement in 1990. A lifelong fan of the Nittany Lions and the Boston Red Sox He also “enjoyed” golf and gardening. He is remembered as a dedicated and loving grandparent. To his grandchildren and great grandchildren he was “Grandpap”.
Surviving are his wife of seventy years, three sons, one daughter, a brother, a sister, eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. There are no services or calling hours.
