George Frederick Starkey, 80, passed away peacefully with his children by his side on June 1, 2026, in Brewerton, New York. Born on February 10, 1946, in Elmira, New York, George lived a life devoted to family and friends.
George pursued higher education at Brown University before completing his degree at Syracuse University. He held a career in Specialized Industrial Packaging after finishing his education. Known for his sharp mind, he enjoyed engaging in thoughtful debates throughout his life.
George was predeceased by his parents, Delfina and George Starkey, his sister Lorraine Marshall and nephew James Allen.
A loving father and grandfather, George is survived by his son Joseph Starkey (Jennifer), daughters Rini Starkey (Justin) and Deborah Starkey (Kirk) and grandchildren Colton Starkey and Jovani Starkey. He also leaves behind his beloved ex-wife Barbara Starkey; his cherished sisters Annie Starkey and Mary Starkey; and extended family and friends.
George found joy in life’s simple pleasures. A passionate Yankees fan, he rarely missed a game. His love for animals was evident in the companionship of pets he held dear throughout his life. Above all else, George’s kindness stood out. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Those who knew George will remember him as a man of integrity with a generous spirit. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be missed and forever remembered.
Private services for family will take place at a later date.
