Georgene M. (Mulliner) Klim

Georgene M. Klim, 94, of Syracuse, New York, died peacefully on 03/30/2020 after a full and joyous life. She was surrounded by her family during her final days at the Nottingham Residential Health Care Facility. Born to George W. Mulliner and Mary Jaquin Mulliner on 08/02/1925 she remained a lifetime resident of Syracuse.

Georgene graduated from Valley Academy in 1943 and studied Fine Arts at Skidmore College graduating in 1947. She met her husband, K. Klim, Jr., in 1945 while he was in the V-12 Navy College Training Program at Union College during WWII. They were married June 4, 1948 in Schenectady, New York. Together they raised 3 children: Mary Christine Klim Doell, David George Klim and John Andrew Klim. While raising their children, Georgene worked as an art and elementary school teacher and received her Masters in Education at Syracuse University.  After almost 30 years of teaching art and 4th grade, she retired from the Syracuse City Public School District in 1990.

Georgene was the consummate hostess, making conversation an art-form. She was gracious and generous with her time and happiest when with her family. She was the glue for an extended family in California, Oregon, Boston, New Jersey, Virginia and Maine. Her loyalty and friendship extended to the friends of her children, whom she considered as family. She nurtured relationships throughout her life from school, teaching, church, and travels along the way. Georgene especially cherished the support and affection of her neighbors on Harrington Road, who often joined her for a seat on the porch or a dip in the pool.

She was predeceased by her husband, K. Klim Jr., also on March 30th but in 2008, and by their daughter, Christine (Gerald) in 2002, and son, David (Barbara) in 2006.

Georgene is survived by her son, John A. Klim (Elizabeth), daughter-in-law Barbara Kurr Klim (David G.), and grandchildren Stacia Klim, Daniel Klim, Zachary Doell, Peter Klim, and John “Jack” Klim.

A memorial service and reception will be held at a future date.
