Geraldine Janet (Allen) Dennison of Chittenango, NY passed peacefullyinto the arms of our Lord, at home with loved ones by her side on July 10th, 2023. Born December 2, 1931 to Douglas and Madge Allen, she was a lifelong central New York resident. Geri was well-loved by her extensive family. She adored the family farm and spent many hours in her gardens, canoeing on the water and caring for the family and animals she dearlyloved. She cherished the horses, dogs and cats of the farm and elsewhere, but also had an affinity for God’s wild creatures. Geri could frequently be found feeding and cataloging songbird and waterfowl migrations and nesting habits.
Geri lived a life of service; caring for others and lifting their lives. In addition to raising her own 5 children, she took in countless foster babies, summer Fresh Air Kids and children and teens whose families were in crisis. She and her husband cared for Geri’s parents in their elder years,as well as her Mother’s brother.
Geri nurtured breathtaking flower and vegetable gardens and had a pioneering spirit for making even small events an adventure. She had abeautiful, seeking mind and was interested in everything about the natural world. She loved to knit and crochet, and was famous for her adorable character sweaters and gorgeous blankets she made for all of the grandchildren and great grandchildren! She modeled life skills of great faith, perseverance and patience, forgiveness, kindness, personal integrity, courage and the satisfaction of hard work well done.
Geri was predeceased by her husband of more than 60 years, Glen Dennison. She was bookkeeper for the family carpentry business; later working in a real estate career as her children matured. She was a devoted mother of 5 children; Bruce Dennison (Caryn), Caroline Bloomquist(Charles), Rebecca Stuhlinger (William), Joanne Watson (John) and Gregg Dennison (Katy).
She cherished her grandchildren Lori Murphy (Mike), Lisa Knapp (Michael), Steve Dennison (Elizabeth), Luke Bloomquist (Katie), Katherine Hawes (Sidney), Heidi Bickford (Joshua), William Stuhlinger (Elissa), James Stuhlinger (Kaila), Joshua Brooks (Ashley), Jared Watson, Jesse Watson (Kelli), Shauna Cucunato (Ryan), Stephanie Dennison, Meghan Dennison, Jacob Dennison (Sydney) and Joslin Grace Frazier.
Of very special mention are beloved neighbors and cherished friends William (previously deceased) and Susan Styn, and their children Jason Styn (Theresa) and Kerri Styn. The Styns give so much joy and support to this family and Geri counted them as treasures in her rich life.
Geri’s great grandchildren include Garrett Murphy, Collin Murphy, Elliot Murphy, Kara Knapp, Emily Knapp, Adam Bloomquist, Brielle Bloomquist, Celine Bloomquist, Isabella Hawes, Lilliana Hawes, Elise Hawes, Adeline Hawes, Jackson Hawes, Andrew Bickford, Millie Bickford, Minka Stuhlinger, Taber Stuhlinger, Glen Brooks, Mallory Stevenson, Monroe Cucunato, Miles Cucunato , Alexander Rippy, Linley Beth Hunt,Riley Styn, Leo Styn and Ava Styn. Geri was never happier than when she was holding a cherished child!
Geri preferred no public calling hours. The family will gather soon at a quiet country cemetery to honor her life and support each other in theirloss. In lieu of flowers, please consider St Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Hospice of CNY.
