Our beloved mother and grandmother, Grace Finger, age 99, passed away on July 5, in Syracuse, New York. She was born on April 21,1921 in Rochester, New York, daughter of Bruce and Elsie Van Atta. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughter Judy Brown, her son James Finger, daughter-in-law Pamela Delles, six grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Reunited with Kenneth, her husband of 76 years, who passed away a few months earlier, her son David Finger, son-in-law Richard Brown, brother Bruce Van Atta Junior, and sister Shirley Schmid.
Grace worked at Kodak durning WWII where she met her husband. She loved flowers and worked at Rockcastle Florist as a designer for several years. Grace was an accomplished needle woman and her hands were rarely still. In later life she was an avid bridge and mahjong player.
Her family was the pivotal essence of Grace’s life and she was a major presence in the lives of her children and grandchildren. A gentle, loving, caring woman who was always laughing has left a permanent mark etched on the hearts of all who knew her and will be supremely missed. To know Grace was to love her.
