Gregg R. Hainey

Gregg Robert Hainey. (68) passed away peacefully on December 28th, 2023. His family is deeply saddened by his sudden passing. 

Born December 29th, 1954 to Geraldine and Robert Hainey, Gregg lived his young life in Liverpool, NY with his brother Ronald, along many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends nearby. After graduating Liverpool High School he enlisted in the United States Navy and served 5 valiant years on the Navy Amphibious Warfare Ship USS Okinawa. After the Navy he would go on to work in a career he loved as a Stationary Engineer at New Process Gear in Syracuse, NY. He spent over 33 years there before retiring.  

Gregg is survived by his beloved sons; Sean Hainey, Brandon Hainey, brother, Ronald Hainey, first wife, Judith Hainey, as well as many cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.  

Gregg is preceded in death by his loving wife, Kathy, his mother, Geraldine, his father Robert. 

Gregg was strong willed with an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor. He loved​ spending time with his sons, his dog Maggie, golf, boating, and his corvette. One of his favorite places was the ocean. More specifically, the San Diego area. This had been one of his favorite places since being stationed there during his time in the Navy. 

Gregg did not wish for any services to be planned. A celebration of life will occur later this year when his final wishes are fulfilled, to have his ashes spread in the Pacific Ocean.
