Gregory Glezen Obituary

Gregory Paul Glezen, age 71, of Cortland passed away peacefully on Monday, April 17, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 3, 1952 to the late Gordon and Virginia Glezen.

In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his brother Allen. On October 25, 1997 Greg married his loving wife Shirley. They have shared 25 years united in marriage.

Greg was a lifelong farmer, establishing and operating Glezen Brothers dairy farm with his brother Dale for over 30 years. After retirement from Glezen Brothers, he continued his love of farming in Virgil, raising beef cattle on his farm with the most amazing views. His first love may have been farming; but above all he loved his wife, family and friends. Greg, who was a colorful character, touched many hearts and made an impression on everyone he met.

Besides his wife Shirley, he is survived by his brothers Barry and Dale (Mary); children Chad (Melinda) and Nicole (Zack); stepchildren Cheryl and Cathy (Todd): and grandchildren Abby, Katelin, Alexis, Austin, Nickal (Nick), Kaydence, Callan, Brady, Zane, Zoey, Olivia, Chloe and Larsson; great grandchildren, Casie and Carly; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Last, but not least, his beloved cat Barney.

A very special thank you to Mary Glezen for all the extra support and love during this difficult time. The family would also like to thank the Upstate Medical University hospital staff for all of the care, attention, and the accommodations during Greg's care. A final thank you to Shawn for taking care of the farm and cattle.

A celebration of his life will be held at Greg's barn on May 20, 2023 from 1-4 pm. Relatives and friends are invited to join us to pay tribute and honor this very special man.
