Henry “Hank” Skurpski, 87, of East Syracuse, passed away on January 25, 2024 surrounded by his devoted family. Hank was predeceased by his loving wife Rosina in 2019. They married in 1961 and raised eight children, happily spending their life together gardening, hosting family dinners, and showcasing their dance moves as well as pierogi making! Hank and Rose wintered for more than two decades in Largo, Florida where friends and family would often visit them.
Hank was an outstanding athlete and avid golfer. Hank was also a highly skilled engineer and successful entrepreneur who worked over 60 years in the HVAC business in Central New York. He founded Skurpski Air Conditioning in the early 1970s in East Syracuse, New York. His sense of humor and kindness toward others was infectious. He was always quick with a song, a warm smile, and a helping hand to all who knew him. Hank was a loyal communicant at St. Matthew's Church in East Syracuse for decades.
He was predeceased by his wife, Rosina, brother, Robert Skurpski, sister, Gertrude Pepe, and his parents Frank and Mary, all of East Syracuse.
Hank is survived by eight children, Anne (Patrick) Schell, Alan Skurpski (Brenda), Gregory Skurpski, Stephen Skurpski (Maryann), Paul (Lea) Skurpski, Tina (Christopher) Krupa, Henry (Jennifer) Skurpski and Rose Marie (Francisco) Cruceta; along with 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Frank (Alice) Skurpski of Lakeport, NY, brother- in-law, John Foti, of Virginia and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 9am at St. Matthew's Church. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday from 4-7pm at the funeral home, 206 Kinne St., East Syracuse.
Hank valued a Catholic education. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Christian Brothers Academy of Syracuse at 6245 Randall Rd, Syracuse, NY 13214.
