Holly E. Leavitt, 76, of New Woodstock, NY, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2024, at Upstate Hospital in Syracuse, NY, after a long battle with cancer.
Holly was predeceased by her parents, George and Lucille (Robertson) Leavitt, her brother Gary Leavitt, and her twin brother Jay Leavitt.
She is survived by her life partner of 34 years, Paul Dunbar; her daughters, Elise (Dave) LaHart and Linette Mowers; her grandchildren, Aaron LaHart, Taylor Currie, Matthew Currie, and Molly LaHart; her siblings, Brent (Lynne) Leavitt, Brian (Cheryl) Leavitt, and Lori (Chuck) Martin; her aunt, Merrille (Trinket) Robertson; nieces and nephews Carmen Leavitt, Selena Poloni, Leigh Leavitt, Lani LaFrance, Monica Leavitt, Aaron Leavitt, Shana Chovas, Maria Martin, Jade Leavitt, Javian Leavitt and many cousins, great nieces and nephews and friends who felt like family.
Holly was born and raised in Smyrna Mills, Maine, and graduated from the Ricker Classical Institute in 1965. She was a lifelong musician, known for her keyboard and vocal talent. Holly played professionally with The Cobras in Maine during the 1960s and later as a solo act at hotels and venues in the Syracuse area throughout the 1970s and 1980s. After her music career, Holly worked as an executive secretary for Parker Ranch on the Big Island of Hawaii and was employed by both, EBPA and Applecrest Farm Orchards in Hampton Falls, New Hampshire. She eventually finished her working years as a medical receptionist in Central NY.
Holly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, playing piano and singing, reading, gardening, sewing, cooking, and helping animals in need. Those close to her were often the recipients of her homemade gifts or preserves.
As per Holly’s request, there will be no services in NY. A private family memorial and burial will be held at her family cemetery in Smyrna Mills, Maine, at a later date.
