James Pudney Obituary

James Edward Pudney, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on January 7. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend whose life was defined by service, dedication, and a deep love for his family.

James was born to the late Dennison and Regina Pudney. He proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard from 1969 to 1973, an experience that shaped his strong sense of duty and integrity. Following his military service, he built a long and hardworking career with the railroad, retiring in 2010. In retirement, James fully embraced life on his own terms, enjoying the freedom to do whatever he wanted most—spending time with family, pursuing his interests, and savoring well-earned rest.

He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Nicole Pudney, and his sister, Patty Burton.

James leaves behind his devoted wife, Gay Jones Pudney, with whom he shared a life filled with love and partnership. He is also survived by his children: Dennison (Laci), Tammy, and Douglas (Adrienne). He was a proud and loving grandfather to Kaitlyn (Dallas), Tyler, Olivia, Jameson, Ella, Ava, and Hayden, and a cherished great-grandfather to Raelynn, who brought him immense joy.

James is also survived by his siblings: Sue (John) Cipparone of Virginia, John (Denise) Pudney, Joe (Sharon) Pudney, Cindy (Mark) Whitmore, Wayne Pudney of Arizona, and Scott (Amy) Pudney, as well as his brother-in-law, Ted Burton of Arizona. His extended family and friends will remember him for his steady presence, quiet strength, and unwavering loyalty.

James Edward Pudney will be deeply missed, but his legacy lives on through the many lives he touched with his love, guidance, and example.
