Janet C. Welch, 96, of East Syracuse passed away Monday at Menorah Park. Janet was a lifelong Communicant of St. Matthew’s Church in East Syracuse. She loved to travel, was an avid knitter and loved puzzles. She retired as a telephone operator from New York Telephone and also worked for Southern Bell.
She is predeceased by her husband, William; her son, Douglas; sisters, Elizabeth Brady and Rita Kelleher; brothers, Karl, John and Bernard Crossman; nephews, Richard Walker, Gregory Walker, Joseph Brady and Mark Kelleher. She is survived by her son, Michael (Marlene) Welch; her daughter-in-law, Kathleen Welch; her grandchildren, William (Elizabeth) Welch, Peter Welch and Mary Welch, Kelly (Raymond) Fernandez, Jennifer Welch (Enrique Cruz); her great grandchildren, Raymond and Kellen.
Funeral services are Saturday at 9:30 AM at Mathewson-Forani Funeral Home, Inc. and 10 AM in St. Matthew’s Church. Burial will Follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt. Calling hours are Friday from 4-7 at the funeral home, 206 Kinne St., East Syracuse.
