John Harris Obituary

John Harris passed away on September 18 at the age of 76. John was born in Jordan, NY where he was a Boy Scout and worked on a farm until joining the US Army in 1964. Upon returning from Vietnam, John spent the next 40 years at New Venture Gear, ending as a machine repairman. John then worked at Landmark Aviation at Hancock Airport for 10 years before retiring.

John is survived by his wife of 39 years Kathleen, his sons Shawn (Kelly), Matthew (Andrea), Kenny (Ann), John, his grandchildren Jude and Amelia, brothers Kenny (Sandy), Randy (Nancy), sister Lynne, many nieces and nephews, and was predeceased by his parents Clara and Robert, sister Lucille, and brother Brian.

John was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman, enjoyed working with his hands and building Legos. But John would tell you that his greatest accomplishment was his family, who he loved very much. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Neurosciences 9E & 9G staff at Upstate Hospital for all of their kindness and hard work.

Calling hours are at Mathewson-Forani Funeral Home in East Syracuse on Monday, September 26 from 4-6PM followed by a short service at 6PM. The private burial service is on Tuesday, September 27 at 1PM at the VA Cemetery on Howlett Hill Road.
