Joseph V. Bottar, 92, of East Syracuse, moved on to Heaven to be with his wife and remainder of his family August 3, 2020. Born in Syracuse to Dominic and Rose in 1928, Joe graduated early from East Syracuse High in 1946 so he could immediately join the US Navy to serve his country while still only 17 years old. Joe held various jobs during his life that ranged from being a cook at Harvey's on Erie Blvd, where he met his wife Helen, to working as a TV repairman with the largest part of his career working for General Electric, retiring after 40 years as a Reliability Engineer. He loved the outdoors especially hunting and fishing, gardening and long walks in the woods in his later years.
Joe was predeceased by his wife, Helen (Sawka). Survived by his sons, Joseph G. Bottar and Brian Bottar; his grandchildren, Nicholas and Luke Bottar, and a host of nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday Aug 8th at 11 am in St. Matthew's Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Dewitt. Calling hours will be Saturday from 9:30-11 am at the church prior to the Mass.
