Judith A. Gardner, 85 of East Syracuse NY was born in Gouverneur, NY., and died July 11, 2024 at Crouse Hospital, Syracuse NY.
Judith’s professional journey was marked by her pioneering contributions to neonatal care. She was a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, one of the first in her field, and played a critical role in caring for critically ill infants. Her expertise was recognized and sought after, leading her to serve as a flight nurse for critically ill infants, and to establish some of the first neonatal units in hospitals across the country. Her career included significant tenure at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hospital and Upstate Medical Center, with her primary service at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse NY.
Judith was a member of St. Matthew Parish, East Syracuse, where she was an active member serving on church committees, in addition to St. Matthews Food Pantry; along side her sisters, and friends.
Judith was predeceased by her sisters and brother-in-law , Patricia & Louis Nardello, Jane, Sally and Gloria Gardner, and nephew Christopher Nardello.
She is survived by her nephew, Anthony (Marcia) Nardello of Atlanta, GA., niece-in-law LuAnn Nardello of Destin FL., great niece and nephew, Carissa and Cory Nardello, along with her good friend and fellow food pantry volunteer, Alberta Wadsworth.
Judith A. Gardner’s life was a testament to the power of dedication, compassion, and service. She will be remembered with deep affection and profound respect by all who knew her.
Funeral Mass will be held, Wednesday, July 17 11am at St. Matthews Church, East Syracuse NY.
