Katherine Jean Bowman, at 70, passed away December 23, 2023. She died from a simple but final fall. She was near the top of the basement stairs, her arms full of clean clothes, fresh from the dryer, on their way upstairs to be put away in her closets.
She passed instantly on a day when she was feeling happy to be alive. Grateful to be living with Mittens (17+ year old cat) in her Fayetteville home. And feeling so appreciative for her circle of friends both in Syracuse and Santa Fe.
She had a 40+ year journey with recovery and being of service. Years of sharing the tears and laughter and the challenges of being on the human awakening journey. God, kindness, and compassion were her truths - and infinite advocacy. And she loved to laugh and share a funny story and stories of human kindness.
She was a fighter and advocate for more than we can know. Offering and being able to help another person felt like such a blessing and a gift to her. It made her feel connected to the spiritual Love in life that she so resonated with. Her own struggles she shared and asked for support when she could. Often easier to lend a hand than ask for one.
Katherine was grateful for her Fayetteville neighbor, who offered her kindness and generosity from the start of her moving into her new home beside his. Kath had spent the last two years living in Fayetteville, NY, the village her parents moved to in 1966 when she was 13. With her move back to Fayetteville from Santa Fe, NM in 2021, Kath seemed to soak in the energy and love from her mother, Jean Bowman, who passed in 2011.
Following her mom's path, Kath found unexpected ways to help people make their lives better. She loved being with Mittens, got calmness and insight from AA meetings, and thoroughly enjoyed weeding and gardening for clients and friends. Kath liked helping to care for other people's pets, and helping old family friends with driving, shopping, and any errands that she could. And just offering companionship.
Along with her love and gratitude for the life she felt was being gifted from her God to still be living, Kath also often found her life journey exhausting and she missed our mom enormously. Kath often wondered, as she'd say, if God was going to take her off and away from this planet and into the energy of the universe. She did not ever seem scared of that.
Kath especially enjoyed going on little walks with Mittens to the park by her home. They were buddies through so many adventures and everyday life. Perhaps on that last day, a happy Kath's soul and Spirit smiled and exhaled and knew that this was her perfect day and way to be released and liberated from this human earth school. The perfect day for Kath to know and receive the gift of the Truth of the Love she loved and knew All is. And ideally and joyfully she was met by mom whom Kath missed so much.
Kath didn't know how the end would happen, yet she trusted her energy and love would continue to grow, learn, and serve as the Divine held her and brought her home into Love's Truth and Infinite Wisdom.
Katherine is survived by, loved by, and missed by two sisters, Nancy and Margie; nephew, Jesse, and nieces, Kate and Alison; her mother's sister, Aunt Kathy; and her cousin Lissa.
May Kath feel our love and gratitude for this life shared in all its chapters and see our proud, loving smiles for the courageous, profound, and loving journey she's experiencing now.
