Kathryn A. (Duda) Crandall, Born August 3, 1941, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2023 after a brief illness. Kathy is survived by her sister Mary Margaret Scanlon of Chittenango, NY, two brothers, Richard Duda (Mary) of North Syracuse and Bernard Duda (Laure) of Milford, CT, numerous cousins and more than 25 nieces and nephews, many of whom she babysat as they were growing up.
Kathy was predeceased by her husband Andrew Crandall, her parents Stanley J. and Alice S. Duda, brothers Stanley, Jerome, Daniel and Gregory Duda and sister Helen Duda.
The family would like to thank Loretto for their excellent care of Kathy at both the Heritage and the Cunningham. Kathy lived her entire life in East Syracuse and was a lifelong communicant of St. Matthew’s Church where she spent many years as a volunteer working in the Food Pantry, the Second Time Around Store, Religious Education classes and Bingo. She was dedicated to service to her church and was a past recipient of the Immaculata Award from the Diocese of Syracuse. She was employed for many years by Merchants Bank and prior to her retirement was an active bowler. She always enjoyed spending time with family, especially her nieces and nephews, volunteering at church events and was a long time Pittsburgh Steelers fan. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to the St. Matthew’s Church Food Pantry.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on May 13th at 10am at St Matthew’s Church A calling hour will be from 9-10am at the church prior to the Mass. Burial will be in St Mary’s Cemetery, Minoa.
