Lawrence S.(Nunzio) Casciano, 92, died Monday, January 27, 2020, peacefully in his sleep during a short stay at the VA Medical Center in Syracuse, NY.
Larry was born on October 12, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY to Leo and Giuseppina Casciano, and spent the majority of his life residing in East Syracuse.
Larry was a co-owner, along with his brothers, of Leo & Son’s Big M Supermarket. He took great pride in the fact that the family business was an integral part of the East Syracuse community for many years.
He was honored to serve his country in the US Navy. One of his favorite pastimes was relaying to his children and grandchildren his numerous experiences during his enlistment.
He was a former member of the East Syracuse volunteer fire department and the March Master of the Ladies Auxiliary. Throughout the years Larry enjoyed traveling, golfing and entertaining.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Antoinette (Albanese) Casciano, who was the love of his life, his children Cynthia(Matthew)Brennan, Leonard J. Casciano, Valerie(Charles)Carmichael, Steven Casciano, and Karen(Michael)Nash. He will also be dearly missed by his 11 grandchildren, Stephanie Brennan(Mike Smith), Nicole(Emmanuel)Jackson, Michael(Jessica) Brennan, Nicholas, Joseph and Laura Casciano(Peter Medrano) , Steven and Sierra Casciano, Sophie, Camelia and Vivian Nash and his 4 great grandchildren, Adilynn, Beau and Presley Brennan and Natalia Jackson. He is also survived by his sisters, Frances(John) Sanson and Carmella Scarcella. Along with many nieces and nephews.
Larry is predeceased by his identical twin brother Frank Casciano, brother Joseph Casciano and sister Lena Jacopelle, his beloved nephew and niece Lenny Jacopelle and JoEllen Wilson.
Funeral Mass will be held Friday, January 31st, 11 a.m., at St. Matthew’s Church, East Syracuse, NY. Calling hours will be held prior to the services at St. Matthew’s from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Dewitt, NY.
The family would like to thank the staff at the VA Medical Center for the excellent care they provided over the last several years.
