Leslyn Goodrich

Leslyn Michels Goodrich, 86, passed away on May 12, 2020.  She was a loving and supportive wife to her husband of 64 years and a devoted mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren.  She is survived by her husband, Charles H. Goodrich, daughter Kathy Ferro (Dan), sons Jack (Kathy), Dave (Lisa), and Bill (Rhonda), and eight grandchildren, Tim and Megan Ferro, Brett, Kristen, Julia, Tessa, and Kyle Goodrich, and Courtney Mariuz (Rob).
 

Leslyn was a talented athlete during her school years, and a golfer and tennis player through much of her adulthood.  Though she received a degree in Physical Therapy at Columbia University (after her undergraduate work at Oberlin College), her young and growing family became her focus early in her marriage.  She was an artist - her paintings adorned the family home, a gardener of flowers and fresh vegetables, and a cook and preserver of produce and fruits.  Leslyn and her husband loved classical music, regularly attending orchestral concerts. She loved travel - family summers were marked by long family trips across parts of the US.  In retirement years, she and her husband traveled to Europe, Australia, Africa, and South America and especially enjoyed snorkeling together.

She had a thirst for knowledge, was always interested in learning new things, and travels were often centered around Elderhostel educational programs.  Leslyn was always committed to charitable giving and was a volunteer in many capacities, from counselor to Meals on Wheels provider.  She worked for many years as an administrator for KenTon Meals on Wheels and was a docent for many more years at the Buffalo Zoo, where she helped provide education for young visiting students. Above all, she loved and was loved by her family. 

A virtual celebration of life will be held with her immediate family, and when feasible, a wider memorial service will be held on a date to be determined. Donations may be given in her memory to the Buffalo Zoo Annual Fund www.Buffalozoo.org/donate
