Linda DeStefano Obituary

Linda A. DeStefano, born September 2nd 1943, died June 10th, 2020 in Syracuse New York at the age of 76.
Linda was born in 1943 in Schenectady, NY to Marjorie Babbitt DeStefano and George DeStefano, and attended Mohanasen High School.
She later received her bachelor's degree in English from Rosary Hill College, her master's degree in social welfare from SUNY Albany and moved to Syracuse where she married Richard Weiskopf and became active in the social justice community.
Linda was the president and co-founder of People For Animal Rights, a grassroots organization which advocates for animal rights and environmental protection. She was a leader with the local and statewide Sierra Club, received the outstanding Achievement Award from the local Sierra Club in 2004, and received the peace award from the Syracuse Peace Council in 1980. She was also actively involved in issues of social justice and voting integrity.
Linda had other interests including: dancing, gardening, singing, learning Spanish, reading, nature and vegan cooking.
Linda is survived by her husband Dr. Richard Weiskopf, stepsons Walter Weiskopf (Marcie Stein) and Joel Weiskopf (Karla), step-grandsons Karl Weiskopf and Samuel Weiskopf, cousins Donna, Jim and Chris Palmer (Stephanie) and cats Allegra and Sunshine.
Funeral arrangements will be held at a date to be announced.
