Loretta “Lolly” (Ganley) Flood, age 97, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2021, at Menorah Park Nursing Home where she resided for the past four years. Loretta was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She possessed a great wit that she exhibited to the very end of her life. Loretta was born in Syracuse and attended Most Holy Rosary School. She was a communicant of the parish her entire life where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, the Senior Group and the Funeral Guild.
Loretta was employed by General Electric after graduation. She retired from Marble Farms where she worked in the payroll office. She was an avid reader and loved to knit, sew and garden. She enjoyed daily walks with her friends. Loretta was most proud of her children and grandchildren and enjoyed being a part of their lives and watching them grow. Loretta was predeceased by an infant son, Thomas, her husband Charlie Flood who passedin 2004, as well as her six siblings.
She is survived by three sons, Paul (Kate) of Colorado, Dennis (Kate) of Camillus, Gerard (Alden) of Boston; three daughters, Noreen (Patrick) McLaughlin and Mary Flood both of Syracuse, Anne (John) Vieau of Jamesville, eight grandchildren, three great-grandsons, and numerous nieces and nephews.
As per Loretta’s wishes, there will be no calling hours.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at Most Holy Rosary Church on Monday, October 11th at 10:00 am. Private burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Most Holy Rosary School, 111 Roberts Ave., Syracuse, NY 13207. Loretta’ s children would like to thank the caring staff at Menorah Park, especially those on The Terrace and Second Floor, for their kind, compassionate care of their mother. It was truly appreciated.
