Lorraine Koury, Syracuse native and longtime owner of Boom Babies on Wescott Street, passed away on Thursday evening, September 15th, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, after a short illness. She was surrounded by family and loved ones. Lorraine was a well-known and respected businesswoman, much loved by her employees and a multitude of dear friends.
She is survived by sisters, Donna (Syracuse, NY) and Annette (Sunrise, Florida), and brothers, Joe (Washington, DC) and Fred (Minneapolis, MN), as well as several nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by her husband, Peter Gifford, parents, Mitchell and Rosanna, and sister, Michele.
Lorraine was one-of-a-kind: a brilliant light in the world, full of life, love, artistic flair, and generosity. She will be missed by many.
On Friday October 21st at 1:45pm, a funeral procession through the neighborhood starts at Burns-Garfield Funeral Home, 3175 E. Genesee St., Syracuse. Drive through the neighborhood, pause at Boom Babies, then back to funeral home. Calling hours will then be from 3-7pm at the funeral home.
On Saturday October 22nd, A Celebration of Life will be held at Drumlins, 800 Nottingham Rd., Syracuse from 11am-3pm
