Madeline Lupia, 90, of East Syracuse passed away at Crouse Hospital early Sunday morning.
Madeline was born at Mineola, Long Island to Charles and Marcella O’Connor in 1930. She married Joseph Lupia in 1949, and later received a degree in psychology from Syracuse University. She also graduated from the counselling program at Syracuse’s Pastoral Counseling Center. She volunteered as a Catholic chaplain at Crouse Hospital, and was also active with St. Matthew’s parish as a Eucharistic minister and presenter in that parish’s marriage preparation program. A former journalist, Madeline recently wrote two articles for the Fayetteville Senior Center’s newsletter.
She is survived by three sons, Thomas (Claudia), Joseph, Jr. (Kathleen) and Charles (Alisa), as well as nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph, and one grandchild.
Calling hours will be held this Wednesday afternoon from 4:00 to 7:00 at Mathewson-Forani Funeral Home, 206 Kinne Street, East Syracuse. A funeral Mass will be held 9:00 Thursday morning at St. Daniel Church, 3004 Court Street, Syracuse. Leave condolences for the family on the Tribute Wall
