Margaret "Peg" Manion Bray, 89, passed away on June 13, 2023. She was the daughter of Charles and Cecilia Manion and was a life resident of East Syracuse. She graduated in 1951 from East Syracuse Jr. Sr. High School and attended Le Moyne College.
Peg worked at Indemnity Insurance Company of North America and later at Bowen, Perry and Fobes Insurance Agency where she was an auto underwriter. She was also a columnist for the East Syracuse section of the Eagle Bulletin newspaper.
Peg was a communicant of St. Matthew's Church in East Syracuse and served as the organist for 38 years, retiring in 1982. She was also the secretary at their school for 27 years, retiring in 1999. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, was a charter member of the Parish Council under the direction of Msgr. James Bennet and was a volunteer for the initial evening CCD religious education program for the high school students.
Peg was predeceased by Phil, her husband of 47 years in 2004, her grandson, Joey Edmonds in 1999, daughter-in-law, Julie Bray in 2016 and son-in-law, Phil Guenette in 2017.
Peg is survived by five children, Anne (Jim) Lasko of San Antonio, TX, Sheila Guenette of Baldwinsville, Lauri (Dennis) Weyer, Dave Bray and Denise (Joe) Edmonds all of East Syracuse. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Shawn (Kim) Weyer of Minoa, Kristen Weyer of East Syracuse, Chris (Katie) Lasko of San Antonio, TX, David (Cherry) Bray of Niiza, Japan, Stephanie Edmonds of Clarksville, TN, Nicholas Bray of Port Richey, FL and Dylan Edmonds of East Syracuse. Also by four great grandchildren, Brayden and Andrew Weyer, Maylee Weyer and Theo Lasko. Peg also leaves behind a sister-in-law, Susan (Jerry) Duffy of Philadelphia, PA, a niece, Michelle (Stanislaus) Falkowski of Doylestown, PA and their daughter, Tess.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday June 19th at 10am in St. Matthew's Church. Interment will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday June 18th from 2-5pm at Mathewson-Forani Funeral Home, Inc, 206 Kinne St., East Syracuse, NY.
In lieu of flowers, Peg would appreciate donations being made to the American Heart Association, American Lung Association or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
