Margit M. Foti (nee Csáky), 73, of LaFayette, NY passed away on August 13, 2019 with her daughters by her side. She was born February 26, 1946 in Herend, Hungary. Her family fled during the Hungarian Revolution of 1956 to Switzerland. After finishing business school there, she fulfilled her dream to come to America. She arrived in NY in 1968 and became a US citizen in June 1973. She held many titles during her lifetime, including an accounting clerk for an investment firm on Wall Street, store manager for a boutique in Ithaca, corporate driver for a car service in Manhattan. Her desire to help others led her to volunteer her services during the aftermath of 9/11. The title Margit cherished the most was “Grammy” to her 4 beloved grandchildren. Margit was predeceased by her father Aladár in 2002, mother Maria and ex-husband Vince in 2003 and her brother Csaba in 2004. She is survived by her daughters Christine Foti-Cromley (James), Andrea Hart (Aaron), her grandchildren Isabelle, Nikolas, Erik and Caleb, nephew Attila Csáky (Switzerland) and her cousins Araceli Debrody (NJ) and István DebrÅ‘dy (Hungary). The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff at Upstate Cancer Center for their compassionate care for Margit. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Hope Church, 4845 S. Salina St, Syracuse at 6:30pm on February 28, 2020. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Upstate Cancer Center or Our Lady of Hope Church.
