Maureen Mirucki Obituary

Maureen Ann (Donegan) Mirucki, 84, of Fayetteville, NY, entered peacefully into the loving hands of God on January 20, 2022, after a short, unexpected illness.

Maureen was born in Lima, NY to Loring and Margaret Mary Donegan on May 23, 1937.  She loved singing and from a young age was the pianist for St. Rose Church of Lima.  The 5th of 6 siblings, she graduated high school with Valedictorian honors, earned a bachelor degree in Business English at Nazareth college and a Master degree in Education at Syracuse University.  She met her husband of 55 blissful years on a bus to Killington, Vermont, with the Syracuse Ski club. They were married less than a year later on May 27, 1967 in Holy Cross Church, Dewitt, NY. She worked at Cicero-North Syracuse High School teaching  shorthand, typing, English and business and eventually became the head of the business department -introducing new computer technology during her 36 year tenure. Her fondness of piano and singing continued at social and church functions at Immaculate Conception church and school-from social skits with “ Pierson Road Players” to uproarious laughter at IC school with the group “Stars Over Broadway”. She and Charles were dinner club members at the Calvary club- enjoying many NYE celebrations around the piano, as well as playing bridge. Maureen loved the game of golf- joining many tournaments over the years at Pompey Golf Club.  She also started the Seventeeners club of Syracuse- a social club meeting on the 17th of EVERY month to, “practice for St. Patrick’s day”. Her goal: inviting the greater community to join in laughter and singing at many local pubs- knowing that all participating would benefit from the camaraderie shared.  This club is 25 years young and still lives on!  Two of her favorite holidays were Christmas eve and July 4th.  They were well known for hosting special gatherings and shared many generations of Polish/Irish customs - surrounding us all with love and laughter.  Maureen also had a knack for the slot machines at local casinos - she brought such joy to those who shared and witnessed her “lucky Irish winning streaks” almost weekly.  She adored traveling to Ireland these last 35 years- touring her ancestors’ homesteads, making new friends, recently celebrating their momentous 50th wedding anniversary- bringing all of her close family overseas with them - immensely enjoying her mother country.  When her children moved to Raleigh, she and Charles made twice annual treks to Hilton Head in the months of November and March, hosting a great number of family and friends- creating countless special memories by adding family “talent show” skits for the young and old along the way.  If love is the joy you have in making your family/friends happy, Maureen loved exceedingly well.  She will be remembered most by her genuine smile and warm laughter.

Maureen is survived by her spouse, Charles Joseph Mirucki, children: Molly (Mirucki) Robidoux (Steve) Marc Mirucki (Julia) Grandchildren: Andrew and Emily Robidoux and Madison Mirucki.  She has countless adoring cousins,nieces/nephews, great nieces/nephews from the Donegan family in Mt. Morris, Lima NY, and Mirucki family in Manchester, CT.
