Michael Russell

Michael G. Russell, “MGR,” affectionately known as “Grumpa” has passed away unexpectedly Friday evening, November 22, 2024.

Michael was a Valentine’s Day  baby born in Tampa, Florida on MacDill Air Force Base while his father was serving in the U.S. Air Force.

He was a life long resident of East Syracuse where he attended St. Matthew’s catholic school and graduated from East Syracuse Minoa. 

Michael enjoyed being with family, walking, Iron Butterfly’s in-a-gadda-da-vida, hunting, his black and white tv shows and nightly indulgence of ice cream. 

Michael is pre-deceased by his father John (Jack) Russell and life long partner, Lori Manipole.

He is survived by his daughters Kayla (Marcy) Griffin, Heather Manipole, son Richard Manipole, dear grandchildren Krue Griffin, Nicholas (Nicky) Rescignano, Gianna Manipole and Aliyaha Ibrahim, mother Mary Russell, brother John Russell, sisters Karen (Joe) Rodgers, Sandy Wall.

His infectious laugh, humor and kind heart will be deeply missed.
