Michael Richard Thornton

Michael Richard Thornton, 84, of Dunedin, FL, passed away April 4, 2023 surrounded by his wife, Diane. Michael is predeceased by half of his siblings, his oldest son, Timothy Thornton and grandson, Jack Soucy. Michael is survived by his loving wife, Diane of 38 years, children, Shawn (Karen) Thornton, Michael Soucy, Mark (Lisa) Soucy, Michelle Steves, Maurice Soucy and Martin (Vicki) Soucy, daughter-in-law, Kimberly Webb. He has 7 grandchildren and their spouses, 6 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends.

Michael entered the Air Force on Sept. 6, 1955 and left with Honorable service from the Combat Defense Squadron SAC out of MacDill Air Force base on Sept 5, 1961.

Michael worked several types of security after he left the military such as working for Xerox Corp. for 27 years, going all over the country and other countries, working at the 1984 Olympics protecting the employees and guests.

Calling hours are June 3rd at the Mathewson-Forani Funeral Home, Inc., 206 Kinne St., East Syracuse, NY 13057 from 10am to 11:30am. A processional will head to Oakwood Cemetery for the funeral service at 940 Comstock Ave., Syracuse, NY 13210. Burial service will start at 12:00pm.

Self-pay lunch to follow service at Home Team Pub, 790 Oswego Rd., Liverpool, NY 13090.

He is survived by his wife, Diane (Lancy) Thornton and son, Shawn Thornton. Graveside services are at 12pm Saturday June 3, 2023 at Oakwood Cemetery, Syracuse, NY
