Michael Craig Williams, of East Syracuse, NY, passed away November 11, 2022 at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, NY from complications following a tragic fall this past August 15, 2022. He was surrounded by his loving family and friends during his long hospital stay and at the time of his passing.
Mike was born July 14, 1963 in Massena as the youngest of six children born to Sidney Stewart Williams and Virginia Ruth (Finnegan) Williams, both Massena natives. He was predeceased by both parents, his brother, Martin (aka Buzzard) Williams and Martin's wife, Carol of Massena, NY, his sister, Cheryl (Daniel) Fitzgerald of Lake Bluff, IL as well as three nephews by his sister, Linda, Stewart and Stiles Jacobs and Steven Robare. He is survived by his wife, Paula (Cline) Williams and stepdaughter, Billie Jo Cline. He is also survived by three remaining sisters, Linda Williams, Marcia (George) Schaefer and Paula Willard as well as Marcia's three daughters, Stacy, Julia and Erin and their husbands and children, Paula's two daughters and one son, Tina, Lisa and Joe and their husbands, wife, children and stepchildren and Cheryl's son, Sean and his wife and stepdaughter.
Mike grew up in Massena until the age of 15 upon which time he and his mother moved to Florida. They returned to Upstate NY when Mike was a young adult at which time he enrolled in Canton ATC where he earned honors and received his AAS degree in Electrical Engineering Technology in 1987. Upon graduation he moved to the Syracuse area to work as a salesman for 35 years at KJ Electric, a family-owned business in East Syracuse. While there, he earned many awards for excellence in sales and customer service. According to Carol, one of the co-owners of KJ Electric, his uncanny ability to remember and recall numbers and technical data was exceptional and directly attributed to his success in his career. She also said that he took immense pride in helping customers throughout NYS and that they always knew he had their best interests in mind as he found solutions to help them. While at work you could frequently hear Mike laughing and find him sharing humorous stories with his co-workers.
Mike's hobbies and interests included fishing, hunting, electronics and cooking. Although he wasn't able to get up there as often as he'd have liked, one of his favorite places to be was at a family-owned cabin on a small lake in the Adirondack Mountains, where he had spent much time as a child and young adult, and he would often regale friends and family alike about the best times and places on Lake Ozonia for catching various fish as well as how best to cook them. Mike was a kind, decent and honest man and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Calling hours will be Friday, December 2nd from 5-7pm at Mathewson-Forani Funeral Home, Inc., 206 Kinne St., East Syracuse, NY 13057. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mike's memory to Alcoholics Anonymous.
