Nancy (Conahan) Schmid

Nancy Schmid (nee Conahan), 74, of Syracuse, NY, passed away on May 25, 2024. She was born on December 13, 1949 and a lifelong resident of Syracuse, NY.

She is survived by her loving husband Guenther Schmid, her brother Patrick Conahan, nieces and nephews Joseph and Nicole Conahan, Anne (Conahan) and Jeff Durant, Jayne Conahan and stepchildren Erica Homer and Kim Dombrowski, grandchildren Elizabeth and Jack Homer, James and Nicholas Dombrowski. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents William & Irene Conahan and sister Maureen Conahan.

Nancy worked as Director, Nutrition Services, Onondaga County Dept. of Aging. She was on the Board of Directors for National Meals on Wheels Assoc. of America. Earlier in her career, she was a Registered Dietician at Upstate Medical Center. Nancy graduated from SUNY Plattsburg and then received her Master’s degree from Syracuse University.

Nancy was very creative and gifted with cooking, sewing, decorating, antique and thrift shopping.  She truly had a heart of gold and was always willing to help out her friends, family and neighbors.  

A Celebration of Life and luncheon will be held on June 4, 2024, 12-2pm at the Syracuse Polish Home, 915 Park Ave.
