Pei Lin Huang

Pei Lin Huang died peacefully on June 2, 2021, at her Syracuse home with her husband and son by her side. Born in Ankara, Turkey, in 1960, Pei Lin moved with her family to Hong Kong, England, Washington, DC, and New York City before finally establishing her adult home and career in Syracuse. Her early work was as an editor for CBS Magazines and ADT Security in New York City, but her passion soon turned to real estate, where her love of marketing, problem solving, and helping others defined her next 33 years as a professional REALTOR®.

As a graduate of Syracuse University's Newhouse School of Public Communications, Pei Lin made the quest for knowledge and for systems improvement driving factors in her extraordinary service to her clients. She most recently served on the Greater Syracuse Association of REALTORS Education and Professional Standards Committees, the Keller Williams Syracuse Education and Technology Committees, and the KW Syracuse Associate Leadership Council. Throughout her career, Pei Lin held herself and her Team to a high standard of excellence, integrity, and equal treatment for all. Though her illness during the past year made travel impossible, her “guilty pleasure” of attending professional conferences was not diminished as virtual options were made available. She often spoke about technology at these conferences. The relationships she built and the respect she garnered within the industry and community are testimonies to the person and professional she was. Her peers in the Greater Syracuse Association of REALTORS gave her their highest honor, the REALTOR of the Year Award, in 2015.

Pei Lin was predeceased by her parents, Ah Hing Huang and Yu Kwai Huang, and her sister, Yuk Lin Huang Wan. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, David Sutherland; her son, Kent Sutherland; her niece, Cecilia Wan (Eddie Curley), and nephews Kam Wan (Annie), Tim Wan (Susan), Cheuk Wan (Helga), and Kevin Wan (SangMi); several cousins in the New York metro area; and members of the extended Sutherland family. Pei Lin will also be greatly missed by her Pei Lin Team and by her many other friends. 

A Zoom memorial for Pei Lin will be on Sunday, June 20, at 3 p.m.
