Randolph "Randy" Conrad Obituary

Randolph “Randy” Walter Conrad, 77, of Brewerton, New York, passed away on Memorial Day, May 25, 2026, after a short battle with cancer. Randy was born in Suffern, New York, on May 7, 1949, to David and Betty (Lewis) Conrad. He graduated from Suffern High School in 1967, where he was an accomplished athlete who competed in both football and baseball, earning a tryout with the NY Yankees.

Randy enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1968, training at Camp Lejeune and obtaining the rank of Lance Corporal with an Expert Rifleman Badge. He served one tour in Vietnam as a logistics specialist. Returning home, he married Therese Kimball in 1970 and settled in central NY. He attended SUNY Morrisville, earning a degree in Fisheries Science. He worked as a manager of Four Seasons Fish Hatchery in Altmar, NY, and later for the US Postal Service in Liverpool and Bayberry, NY, retiring in 2004 after 30 years of service.

Randy was extraordinarily creative and excelled in drawing, painting, and more. He loved music and passed that passion on to his children and grandchildren. He had a love-hate relationship with the NY Giants and NY Mets, yet he rarely missed a game. He was also a well-known practical joker, renowned for setting up elaborate and hilarious pranks on friends, family, and co-workers.

Randy is most remembered for his love of trout fishing. He learned to fish when he was young, hiking and fishing the small streams of the Ramapo Mountains. He taught many children in the family how to fish and to find and appreciate wild trout streams. Along these streams, he would find fossils, vintage bottles, arrowheads, rocks, and minerals that he collected. He had a deep appreciation for wildlife and the conservation of natural places, especially freshwater ecosystems that support trout, turtles, and other species.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Therese; sons Randy and Dan (Katie); daughters Suzanne (Artem) Treyger and Laura (Dave) Volcko. He was known as "Papa" by his beautiful grandchildren whom he adored: Elizabeth, Danny, Madeline, Randy, Heidi, and Keira. Randy is predeceased by his parents, David and Betty Conrad; his sister, Shelby Bullock; and his brother, David Conrad.

To honor Randy’s memory, please consider purchasing a NYS Department of Environmental Conservation Habitat Stamp (https://decals.east.licensing.app/products) or making a donation to the Conservation Fund (https://decals.east.licensing.app/donations).
