Reita D. (Hurlbutt) Mitchell

Reita Dawn Mitchell (Hurlbutt) of Homosassa Florida – in the care of her daughter, Kay Wood, in Homer, NY on May 28, 2022. She was born in Middlebury Center, PA 10/19/1926 to Kathryn Cummings and D. Russell Hurlbutt. She grew up on her parent's dairy farm in Etna, NY and graduated from Dryden High School, Dryden, NY. She owned Reita’s Punch Embroidery for many years in Michigan.

She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Mitchell, her parents and her brothers, Duane, Jack and Mark Hurlbutt. She is survived by her children, Z. Kay Wood, Jacqueline Weibly, Ann Miller (Bob) and Nick Mitchell; her grandchildren, RJ Weibly (Kathleen), Jeffrey Weibly, Laurie Bender (Ken), Cheryl LeClair (Len), Christine Echols (Mike), Joseph Wood, Tim Snyder (Michelle), Matt Widing, and Jody Mitchell; her great grandchildren, Sylvan Bender, Michael Gregory, Brianna Snyder, Jaden Snyder, Jessica Weibly, Alexander Weibly. Ethan Echols and Zachary Echols; also survived by a brother, Gary Hurlbutt (Helen), sisters-in-law, Betty Ellis and Linda Morse and a special nephew and his wife, Jack and Carol Hurlbutt.

A family service is planned for June 11, 2022, 10:00am, at Grace and Holy Spirit Church in Cortland, NY with a private graveside service at Middlebury Cemetery in Kinneyville, PA at a later date. The family wishes to thank Hospice Services of Cortland and Tompkins County and in lieu of flowers donations may be directed to the organization.
