Richard Hiller (Rick), 70, passed away peacefully in his home on August 27, 2025. He was born and raised in Cicero, and has lived in Cazenovia since 1987. He was an honorable, caring husband, parent, sibling and friend.
Rick served in the U.S. Army for 6 years. His life’s primary work was construction and vehicle mechanic body work, but he was a jack-of-all-trades. If anyone needed something repaired or built, he would do the job at an extremely reasonable price or barter.
If you were looking for Rick, he would usually be in his favorite hangout place, his garage, either working on a vehicle, fixing something, or resting in one of his two rockers, which he made by attaching bucket arm rest seats to rocker-shaped rear end car springs.
Rick’s favorite hobby was doing mechanical and body work on his and his friends’ classic vehicles and attending car shows… especially The Syracuse Nationals. The Nationals would be an annual week-end gathering with his wife Kathy, brother Jim, niece Tesla, and several awesome car show friends. You would always find our group and cars along the fence between gates 3 and 4.
Rick is survived by his wife Kathy; children Alana Rowe (Liverpool), James (Tina) Rowe (Morrisville), Chad (Ashley) Rowe (Syracuse); grandchildren Josh Queior (Tori Meacham), Jerrid (Mollie Jackson), Kyleigh, Ensley, Penelope, and Jack Rowe; great-grandchildren Carter, Jax, and Eloise Meacham; siblings Deb Hiller (Cicero), Cindy (Chris) Vose (Gloversville), Jim (Kelly) Hiller (Parish), Laurie (Dan) Patsos (DeRuyter); Aunt Jeanne (Hand) Peterson, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Rick is predeceased by his brother Edward Hiller and parents Richard (Dick) and Barbara (Hand) Hiller.
Rick requested that there will be no services.
