It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our father, Richard H. Longden, Sr. Richard died peacefully on June 19th, 2021 and was less than two weeks away from his 91st birthday. Our father was a Navy Veteran and worked for New York Central, Penn Central and Con-rail for a total of 45 years. He was born and raised in Syracuse, retired to Florida for 25 years and lived the last 6 years in Liverpool, NY with his wife of 68 years, Marina (Sauve) the love of his life .
He is survived by his wife, Marina, his daughter Michele Rossignol (Kim), and his sons Richard Longden,Jr. and Steven Longden, his brothers Art (Helen) and Harold (Angeline). He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Though my father worked on the railroad I always thought he made Hershey bars because he brought me home one most days he worked. He always took the time with us to teach us how to play baseball, blackjack, monopoly, and pick-up-sticks. Dad loved model trains and always brought them out at Christmas to let us run them.
There will be no calling hours. We will be celebrating his life privately as were his wishes.
